Thomas Owoo
Thomas gained a B.Sc. (Hons) in Psychology and a DCSF Certification of The Teaching of Citizenship from Coventry University and the Institute of Education respectively. Before becoming a Citizenship teacher, he worked for the SEN department as an English Teaching Assistant, Literacy and Behaviour Project Co-ordinator, and a KS4 Project Co-ordinator for High Achievers with Additional Needs (EAL).
He has worked in educational psychology services in Hackney, Harrow and Brent alongside senior educational psychologists where he was able to develop his skills in working with pupils with emotional and behavioural difficulties. He has also worked with the School Improvement Service Behaviour and Attendance Team in Brent, collaborating with consultants in delivering behaviour management In-service-training.
Along with his current teaching responsibilities he has been given the responsibility for implementing Assertive Discipline® training for over one hundred and fifty teachers in a large school in northwest London. As well as delivering in-house training, he is part of a team responsible for the on-going evaluation of the teaching practice being used across the school and has devised a training package that is part of the school’s NQT induction programme.In addition to this work, Thomas is also currently completing The National Programme for Specialist Leaders of Behaviour and Attendance in order to become a Lead Behaviour Professional and gain accreditation for an MA in Education.
Thomas is renowned for being a great communicator and an inspirational trainer. His dynamic approach filled with his passion for education and enthusiasm to impart change in schools is perhaps his most important attribute when working with teachers who have the challenge of teaching pupils living in inner-city London.
