Raymond Soltysek holds an M.A. (Hons.) in English Literature and Philosophy and an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Management Studies, both from Glasgow University.  He taught for 18 years as an English teacher, Head of Department and senior manager in various schools in the West of Scotland. He joined the Faculty of Education at the University of Strathclyde in June 2001 where he is mainly involved in PGDE (Sec) training, including the delivery of a comprehensive course on behaviour management to student teachers. His responsibilities include: CPD for teachers on a wide range of topics such as creative writing and mentoring;  research into building partnerships between schools and ITE; and consultancy.   He has been a trained Assertive Discipline leader for four years, helping local authorities and school clusters from Shetland to Leeds develop their behaviour management strategies.  He is also a widely published author: he has written programmes for BBC Education and is currently writing a novel.
