Richard Austin, is a qualified teacher with experience of working in mainstream and specialist provision and is regarded as a highly innovative practitioner willing to think creatively.

With extensive experience in the provision of training for staff working with pupils who present challenging behaviour, Richard has:-

  • Assisted in the establishment of a newly formed Behaviour Support Service advising on the management of Behaviour for Learning.
  • Managed and developed a Behaviour Support Service resulting in it becoming highly regarded and effective.
  • Lectured at Undergraduate and Post Graduate Level and spoken at NASEN and National Conferences.
  • Undertaken postgraduate research into the effect of a strategic approach to the management of behaviour and found the positive impact that this has had.
  • Strategically managed SEN Provision within the context of Every Child Matters in one of the highest ranked English Authorities, ensuring that all pupils had access to high quality provision.

Richard is fully conversant with current legislation and practice having attended National Inclusion Conferences.
