Elizabeth Floyer
Elizabeth has worked as a trainer and behaviour consultant with Behaviour and Learning Management for the last seven years, particularly training in the Assertive Discipline® and Coping With Kids® programmes. She also trains education ‘paraprofessionals’ in behaviour management strategies. In her work she has established herself as a lively, approachable and effective presenter and trainer.
In a voluntary capacity she worked closely with a Romanian special school and orphanage over a period of 10 years, reassessing children to identify the nature and extent of their learning difficulties, training teachers and care staff in child development and systems to provide for behavioural and social needs. As well as working alongside staff within the organisation, she became skilled at working with Romanian local government officials to help them develop strategic plans for meeting the needs of the orphaned and abandoned children. Elizabeth set up a charity during this period to obtain and transport aid to the orphanage.
In her present role as a consultant, co-ordinating the management of learning with the management of behaviour has led her to take on long term projects with a number of specialist units in order to help them create behaviour and learning environments that are more positive, respectful and effective.
Working for a couple of years as a member of the evaluation team on the Home Office CRISS and On Track projects has given Elizabeth a wide experience of preventive projects with young people at a national level.
With this wealth of experinece, she is now established as a regular presenter for the NUT on CPD programmes for Just Qualified and Newly Qualified teachers including teaching general classroom management and behaviour management skills and strategies. Not surprisingly Elizabeth's training and consultancy skills are much in demand from schools and organisations needing her specialist expertise, not just in the area of behaviour management but also in relation to thinking skills and cognitive education.
In addition to all this, Elizabeth provides consultancy and training to leadership teams within schools and organisations being a qualified occupational psychologist, having gained an MSc in Organisational Psychology, University of London, specialising in organisational analysis, assessment for selection and workplace stress. She has also studied with the Blanchard organisation in San Diego, USA, where she qualified as a Registered Trainer in Situational Leadership® II. She regularly delivers this leadership programme to senior leadership teams within schools and Local Authorities across the UK. She recently co-authored a series of articles for Managing Schools Today magazine on the application of Situational Leadership II to enhance performance management in schools.
