In-house Training
Twenty years experience as the UK’s leading provider of behaviour management resources and training means we have amassed a huge amount of expertise in school in-service training.
Our training consultants and registered leaders provide professional development programmes to hundreds of schools every year.
Our Senior Consultants are continuously in demand to give key note addresses for conferences or to make presentations to audiences of many hundreds. Our registered leaders are based throughout the UK and can provide whole day or twilight sessions in a range of CPD programmes.
Our CPD programmes cover the areas of
- behaviour education
- learning and teaching
- school management and leadership
Behaviour Education - a suite of In-Service programmes about different aspects of behaviour management including
-
Assertive Discipline® for Teachers – the basic classroom management programme for all teachers and for all pupils, showing how to establish the conditions for learning by focussing on the teaching of better learning behaviours, merging the management of curriculum with the management of learning.
-
Succeeding with Difficult Students – more advanced skills for coping with more demanding behaviour problems.
-
Scared or Prepared – a series of programmes about violence prevention and how to intervene safely in crisis situations in our schools.
Learning and Teaching – a continuum of approaches for developing increasingly sophisticated teaching strategies in the classroom.
-
A Strategy for Differentiation – a programme researched, developed and piloted by Geoff Moss that provides a simple but robust methodology for managing today’s diverse learning environment.
-
Teaching Strategies and Learning Styles – identifying pupils’ different learning styles, based upon Jung’s Personality Types, and matching these to appropriate teaching strategies for developing practical or abstract thinking, with either a task or person focus.
-
So Each May Learn – now adds the concept of multiple intelligences to the learning environment, and combines this with the influence of personality factors upon learning.
School Management and Leadership – these are usually run as small group training courses over one or two days or are split over several sessions. The training is mostly used by senior and middle managers in schools or other education organisations. By their nature these are ‘tailor-made’ courses for education managers, but are usually structured around two key programmes –
Situational Leadership® II – this is the most successful leadership programme in the commercial world which, as qualified trainers, we have recently adapted to the public sector. We are the only education consultancy accredited by the Blanchard Organisation to deliver Situational Leadership® II in the UK. The programme shows managers how to help their direct reports develop the skills and tackle the tasks of the job by
-
diagnosing each person’s development level on each of their tasks
-
selecting the appropriate leadership style for that development level
-
partnering for performance to address the direct report’s needs in a more structured, professional way than we typically do in our school management.
Assertive Management – a home grown approach, taking the concepts of Assertive Discipline® in the classroom and extrapolating them for use in managing teachers and other adults. The key skills learned here are:
-
identify what it is you are trying to manage
-
determine who is managing and who is being managed
-
select how you will undertake the various stages of the management role
-
set targets for when each stage will be accomplished.
